I just got a Raspberry Pi and I want to use use it as some sort of temps and speeds monitor for my main computer.

Basically, mount the pi to my monitor using the vesa mount (regular stand doesn't use vesa mount) and hook it up to my laptop using usb or whatever and besically have hw monitor running on the pi that shows the numbers on a small screen mounted somewhere else. Hopefully that makes sense.

Any idea on how to make this link? is it even possible?

I am not totally sure if you can relay that information over to the PI, to have it display that.

I'm thinking instead of using the pi to display temps why not just download a monitor program and throw it on the second screen since its all coming from the same laptop? IMHO it would be saving some steps and you can use the pi for a HTPC or something of that effect.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

I was thinking that there has to be some sort of way that I can transfer data, if its from a custom program or something pre-made to another program on the pi that would "decode" the data and display it

I literally have no money at all since I spent it all on this trip

Yea but that might be more trouble then its worth. I mean (I really hate to say this) but the NZXT Cam even tho its garbage should be releasing an app that monitors your computer for a smart phone coming up. I would say that is probably your best bet..then again I'm not an expert by any means with the Pi.

Maybe @helping has an idea or would know someone that does?
