My dad had a nexus 7 for about 1-2 years running flawlessly. He charged it one night and woke up to a screen that was white but it still showed what was running in the backround. Is this what is called a white wash? Does anyone know how to fix it without replacing the LCD screen?

Remove the battery, for a few minutes and replace it.

that may help.

I don't think there is a way to remove it :(

2012 nexus 7 is removable, you have to pry the back off the machine

ok, then it's a defect in the LCD panel. Fortunately the display assembly is easy to find, and easy to install. but might not be financially smart.
