Why are printer toners so selflessly expensive? Are there cheap alternatives to Inkjet toners? I'm planning to switch to laser printing when it gets widely affordable.

When you go by $/£ per page Printer Toners are not that expensive. I had a Colour Laser Printer for 3 years on the original toners.

They ask for a lot of money because they can. Not many things have as much DRM on them as a modern inkjet ink cartridge, so they cannot easily be refilled. Some stores do sell their own brand of ink. Those cartridges sometimes require the printer to be set is some kind of debugging mode or sometimes will simply not display their ink level correctly. Laserprinter toners have the same problem, but they do last longer. Also, laser printers have existed for longer than inkjets. If they were to become affordable they'd have done so already.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

Don't use inkjet, use laser. BW laser is much cheaper than inkjet, and really fast.

Try getting some non-original or refilled cartridges, they usually do just fine.

Colour Laser is useless IMO. 4 cartridges cost about 3-400 €, which was the price of a whole new printer! And they got used in 3 months! (pretty intensive printing for a small company).

Yes but what would be the price on cartridges on an inkjet printer?

Well, some people think that Laser Printers offer lower prices but in some cases it can be cheaper to use an inkjet. It is really dependant on the workload that it revives so for me to be able to work out the best solution for you I need the number of pages that are printed per year/month/whatever and the percentage of these that are colour/color (depending on where your from) and what percentage you print is just black text.

Original cartridges usually cost 40-50 €, non-original ones are about half that.
