Not very knowledgeable on Intel CPU's so pardon my ignorance but what makes the 4930 worth so much more than the, soon to be released, 5820? I'm assuming a price in the low $400.00's for the 5820 but the 4930 is  so expensive here (Canada) that the extra cost of DDR4 is, probably, offset and the Motherboards will likely be comparable and I will only be looking at a moderate Overclock around 4 Ghz with 1 VGA installed so newer technology for less money and equal performance seems like a no brainer. Also, totally OT, but when NCIX says that an item will be available in 2-5 days but not in stock at any location, is the 2-5 days accurate, I'm looking at the NZXT 630 (white)? Thanks

well the 5820k will also be a 6 core 12 threads cpu, but it will only get 28 pci-e 3.0 lanes.

the 4930K is a 6 core 12 threads cpu, with 40 pci-e 3.0 lanes.

However since the 5820k is a diffrent architecture haswell-E instead of 4930K ivy-e.

This should mean that the 5820K is alittlebit faster wenn it comes raw cpu power.

However the compromise is the less pci-e 3.0 lanes, which will limited you if you wanne go crazy on multiple gpu setups.

But basicly you could still run dual gpu setups on 8x with a 5820K.

Thankyou but I'm a bit confused, is the ability to run multiple GPU's worth an extra $200,00 +?

you will be ok with dual GPUs

unless you need to run like 3 or 4 gpus do you need the 5930K for the PCI-E lanes

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

The trend seems to be that more and more stuff is going to need PCI-e lanes. Storage is using it now, GPU's are using more than ever, etc. If I were buying a new Motherboard and CPU, I would either look for a sale on the 4930 or spring for the 5930, but that's just me. The extra 150 USD or so seems worth it to me.
