Hey guys, so im planning on getting a speaker system for my room and I was wondering what i actaully need to power them and everything.

Btw Im a total newbie to speakers.

I'm guessing the power supply (adapter) comes with the speakers. And it should also include all the cabling to wire them up. At least when I bought speakers it did.

What's your total budget? You need an AV receiver to power that speaker set.

If your monitor runs a standard AV resolution, passing the data through the receiver via HDMI would be ideal. If not, then going for Optical SPDIF might be an option (especially if you have DD Live or DTS Connect for real-time multi-channel use).

I would advise against boxed all-in-one systems or satellite speakers unless you are on a strict budget or have limited space. You will be much more satisfied with a decent pair(s) of bookshelf/tower speakers and an entry level receiver.
