OverClocking Error

Several times while playing games my computer would shut down immediately and showing a message " your overclocking setting have failed loading last known working configuration " upon restart

im not overcloking my cpu or gpu , only the monitor from 60hz to 70hz 

running system 

what could be the problem, does unlocked mean it it doesnt stay at 3.5ghz but varies depending on programs running ?

 

windows 8 

intel i5 4670k unlocked

sapphire tri-x r9 290

psu 850w bronze modular 

mobo z97-g55 sli ready

That's just what it will tell you when the motherboard fails to support your processor under certain situations. Try clearing your CMOS first, but if it happens again you could try turning off turbo on your motherboard and setting your processor to run at a fixed speed.
