Hi all,

New member here! I just got done building my first PC and it works. :) I now would like to install/update the drivers, but i am not sure which drivers need to be downloaded.

Here is what components my PC is made of:

AMD ATHLON X4 760K

MSI A88XM-E35

MSI R7 260X 2GD5 OC

CORSAIR CX 430 Watt

ASUS USB-N53 Dualband WLAN N USB Adapter

G.Skill Ripjaws (2x4gb) DDR3 2133 MHz

WD 1TB Blue

Windows 8.1

Could someone point me in the right direction as to what drivers I need to install/update?

Thanks!

Ok so you will need some graphics drives for that r7 260X that can be found here:  http://support.amd.com/en-us/download then you will need to look at some mother board drives for the msi a88xm-e35 that are here: http://www.msi.com/support/mb/A88XME35.html#down-bios and you may want to check for windows updates. for wifi check here: http://www.asus.com/Networking/USBN53/HelpDesk/

if you want to install and or update multiple programs at once check out ninite.com For which ones you need just try all the motherboard ones except things like Google drive and things that are not drives. The computer will tell you if they are up to date when you try to install them. that's about it and you should be good

Welcome to LTT! I hope you enjoy your stay here :D

Anyway, as for drivers, typically you want to go to the manufacturer website and grab the latest drivers for all additional components you have installed. Additional components are graphics cards, any other add on cards (sound cards, PCI-e SSD's, NIC, etc), any USB devices you have attached (such as your dual band USB adapter) and your motherboard. Drivers are usually listed under support, or download.

To make things easy for you [assuming 64-bit OS]:

GPU: http://ca.msi.com/support/vga/R7_260X_2GD5_OC.html#down-driver&Win8%2064

USB WiFi adapter: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/USB-N53/Dr_USB_N53_10140_Windows.zip

NOTE: If you want to use WD's SmartWare software for the drive's more advanced features (such as password protection and so on) you'll need to download the SES driver, along with SmartWare, which, the driver typically comes with.

Hey there, regarding the SmartWare software, it can be used to backup your information from internal to external drive, so if you don't have an external HDD you don't really need it ;)

It can also be used to monitor temperatures, and password protect a drive. (Although I don't know if it can for a desktop drive)

Yes, these are some of the features which, though, can be used for external drives.

Can be, but my original point was, if they are features the person wants on their desktop dirve, and they are available for a desktop drive, than that's the requirement. If they don't wish to have those features, then no, they don't need SmartWare, or the SES driver.
