Anyone know if I can remove the top decorative caps to make it 2mm shorter to fit in a case?

If there is a will there is a way. You might have to do a little serious modding but it should work :)

Those are the end of the heat pipes. If you were to take them off you would completely ruin the cooler.

Those are the end of the heat pipes. If you were to take them off you would completely ruin the cooler.

No, it has caps on the end of the end of the heat pipe, for a decorative look instead of the look of something like a 212 evo

If there's no easy way to take them off then I don't think Cooler Master would have wanted you to take them off in the first place.
