Need your Advice MOBO+CPU

Go to solution Solved by Juliogol,

Ok guys! Got the Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z87 motherboard and the Core i5 4690k CPU! Guess I made a right choice! What do you think? Thasnks all for your help!!

As said in the title, I need your kind advice on these upgrades.

Currently using a I5 2500k + Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 Motherboard, but I sold them and tomorrow I have to make one of these two choices:

I5 4670k + Gigabyte G1 sniper M5 Mobo http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-BigFoot-Motherboard-GA-G1-SNIPER-M5/dp/B00CU4L6LQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408654713&sr=8-1&keywords=gigabyte+g1+sniper+m5

or

I7 4790k + Gigabyte Z87M D3H http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-1150-CrossFireX-Motherboard-GA-Z87M-D3H/dp/B00CU4L4K4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408654745&sr=8-1&keywords=gigabyte+z87mx-d3h

My budget is for one of those choices, spend more on the CPU and a little less on the MOBO or the other way around.

Mainly I am going to use it for gaming, mostly BF4 is what I game the most, and on that game is controversial wether or not it takes advantage of Hyper Threading.

Usually render some gameplay and upload to youtube, but just for hobby, not professionally :P

So what is your advice? Thanks in advance for all the responses! this community is AWESOME!

PS: I have a R9 290 Sapphire tri-x GPU!

i5

never i7 for games. Games don't hyperthread. Games don't use more than 4 cores mostly.

in fact I just got done with a lecture on another thread about this topic... -_- LTT is turning into Yahoo news with the comments.

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.

AMD FX 8350 CPU / R9 280X GPU / Asus M5A97 LE R 2.0 motherboard / 8GB Kingston HyperX Blue 1600 RAM / 128G OCZ Vertex 4 SSD / 256G Crucial SSD / 2T WD Black HDD / 1T Seagate Barracude HDD / Antec Earthwatts 650W PSU / Coolermaster HAF 922 Case

that is actualy so untrue many games now makes use of more than 4 heavy threads and they all pretty much benefit from hyperthreading.

HT is also a more efficient scheduling for the CPU and even single and dual-threaded tasks complete faster (smoother games) with HT.

Hyper-threading and 8 threads or 8 core processors is a miss-consception, all hyper-threading does is feeding the cores in a much more efficient way with no down times and this for gaming also applies.

well your motherboard does not affect performance, but it does affect features, if the gigabyte board has what you need there thereis no reason to upgrade it.

but that is a z87 board and a z97 chip

if you want faster render times then the i7 no doubt

show me hyperthreading specs for games then. Over 4 games or bullshit.

no, you didnt made a good choice because the z87 motherboard wont support that cpu out of the box you'll need to flash the bios for it to support the 4690k...and you need a compatible (older) haswell cpu in hands to perform the bios update...you should have picked a z97 motherboard...good luck!
