fans ramp up

so my fans on my GPUs ramp up when i change the display mode on the computer e.g. go from using my monitors to my tv. the GPUs both go to 50% fan speed and i have to turn off my fan curve in afterburner and then put it back on is there a fix for this? anyone else have this issue 

l Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.5Ghz l Asus VII Ranger ROG l MSI GTX 970 @ 1555MHz l
