Do you plan to SLI later?

If you do, the current market leader on price/quality are the EVGA Supernova G2 units.

Channel Well is OK, not bad not exceptional either, the EVGA units are made by Super Flower and are of high quality.

I'm from the U.S and my budget is $150.

Good news, you'll have change from one of the EVGA units and it'll do SLI if you want to go that way later on. :)

Can't say no to a 10 year warranty and gold efficiency for under 120 bucks.

I actually live next to a microcenter and frys and best buy all together. Anything worth picking up from there also?

Enquire in the microcenter, they'll give you a rebate by the looks of it and may let you leave with that PSU for 99.99.

How about Thermaltake or any other brand? Or is evga the best? I feel like I'm being limited to one brand, sorry

There are lots of great brands, I'm only recommending this one so much because it is far and away the best quality/dollar product at the moment, you will see it getting recommended all over the forum due to this.

EVGA isn't the best brand overall, but his particular product is the best in it's class right now. :)

And Channel Well Technology a good oem?

Yes.

Are they the best psu maker?

EVGA doesn't make their PSUs, so they can't be the "best PSU maker".

What specific model? A brand can have products range from excellent, premium units all the way down to complete utter trash. It's because of this, you shouldn't limit yourself to a particular brand. You should judge the unit on a unit-by-unit basis. For example, the Thermaltake Smart 750-M is a solid mainstream unit, while the Thermaltake TR2 RX 750w is a trashy unit that can't output what it is rated for safely.

What about the oems of power supplies?

Of EVGAs? HEC, Super Flower, FSP, Etasis, and Enhance.

What I said above still implies. Just because a OEM has a good reputation of making quality products, if a company like Corsair, EVGA, Thermaltake, etc. paid the to make something bad, they are going to provide them something that is poorly made.

I was looking at Thermaltake Smart 850m which was at best buy.

How about Corsair Ax750m

The Corsair AX750 is base on the older KM2 design from Seasonic. It's a certainly a better unit than the Thermaltake Smart 850M (I suspect it cost more as well). It's a solid choice along with the aforementioned, EVGA Supernova 750w G2 and the updated Corsair AX760 (Seasonic XP2 internally). If you are able to buy online, I would get the EVGA due to the cost for such a high-end PSU and its 10 year warranty (upon registration).

Alright, so basically evga sells the best?

Again, it depends on the series. The Supernova G2 is among one of the best unit on the market. Along with the Antec High Current Pro Platinum (very expensive), Corsair AX/AXi, Seasonic KM3/XP2/XP3, Cooler Master V, etc. All of these power supplies are well-made, you can't go wrong with any of them in respect to reliability and build quality. The reason why many suggest the EVGA Supernova G2 is because you are getting an excellent unit for an excellent price (it's a high-end unit that is priced in the same price range as some mainstream units)..

Alright, I guess I'll order the evga one, although I don't like ordering online. Prefer stores like microcenter and frys so if I have to return it I don't have to deal with shipping. All my pc parts have been bought from microcenter.

It's on microcenter. It's not available at your local store?

Be wary. There's two 750w Gold unit from EVGA. There's the NEX750G and the Supernova G2. Microcenter seem to have mixed it up in the listing title.

Make sure you are getting the G2.

Supernova 750w G2 = 220-G2-0750-XR

NEX750G = Supernova 750w G1 = 120-G1-0750-XR

Raidmax and Thermaltake have been my choice in the past

Many of Raidmax PSUs aren't good, and even the one that was good, there was still some deception with it. I wouldn't recommend them.

As for Thermaltake, they do sell some good PSU; however, they can be rather confusing to keep track of. They like mixing multiples of platforms and OEMs within a series, where one unit may be a solid mainstream unit and another is a poor, entry level unit. For example, the Smart 750M (solid mainstream) is very much a different power supply than the Smart 730w (poor HEC unit). You need to do thorough research on them to be 100% sure what you are getting.
