Overclocking G3258 Help
http://hwbot.org/newsflash/2127_msi_oc_on_z87_h87_b85_and_h81_chipsets_z87_the_only_true_overclocking_platform <-- this was actually in the video
MSI have basically denounced H81/B85 overclocking and used the latest microcode on their motherboards.
The video has misinformed a few now as you're not the first.
I imagine 6.6 has the new microcode, 6.5 did not. However as far as I know downgrading the BIOS will not downgrade the microcode. You'd need to use FTK.
I am very proud to announce that you.....are very incorrect. In the most polite and upstanding way, you just tried to misinform me ![]()
Luckily I am extremely hardheaded and went on after reading your post. Turns out it is actually quite simple for the rest of the people with this problem here is your solution...you might laugh at yourself...I did:
1. Open BIOS (If you don't know how to do this....leave)
2. Go to the Overclock Menu (Labeled OC on the left hand side)
3. In the Overclock menu there will be several different clock speeds all grayed out, misleading that they cannot be altered.
When you reach this page you should see a subheading that says "CPU Ratio" and it will be set to "Auto". this confused me because it did not have Brackets "[Auto]" like the others. If you click the "Auto" text and then type numbers it will change your frequency. (Remember "Numbers" x 100 MHz, i.e 40 = 4 GHz)
To my surprise I saved, restarted, and Tada my readings are now 4 GHz.....Good luck...and have fun Overclocking.
Managed to get to 4.3 GHz on my Rig without crashes. Still stress testing, however, seems stable with initial tests.
