Go with the 7970, with the new drivers you will get up to a 10% performance improvement :)
nvidia also have performance improved drivers. it's a driver war the past few months, because they ahve no products to launch.

Definitely the 7970 , a regular 7970 is just as fast as a 680, a GHz 7970 is faster.

Plus, it's cheaper, has more ram, a larger memory interface, insane overclockability and has got a very good non-reference cooler.

I'd go for the 7970 without any hesitation .
