Limiting Internet Usage

Title says it all.

 

I play runescape (yea ik just can resist it anymore) A LOT as i have to restart my account.

 

I have 14GB per month

 

Runescape is saying it uses 200B per sec all the way to 1000B per sec when in combat. 

 

I tried to do my own calculations and im getting around 1MB-10MB usage per hour but my bill says otherwise.

 

Nothing else is using internet as i used net limiter to block off most things to even use internet period. Also no one else is on 10pm-2am

 

Any suggestions? i recently turned all the graphics in the game to lowest just to see if that helps. im desperate as i cant get unlimited and the job searching is getting on my nerves.

Uhh don't play Runescape because your wasting your internet, only play a few times per week.

well at least your getting reliable internet, i have comcast and sometimes the internet here drops.

least u dont have 200$ bills some month just to use the internet like normal people. and every storm were kicked off till the next morning

try to get Exede Satellite internet it offers 10GB-25GB plans with unmetered bandwidth from midnight-5am.  they also have an evolve plan with 15GB and 3-8am being unmetered for those who have a life. 

 

i personally have exede and it is great for what it is, but landline would be better.  10GB (what i have) is not a lot but the unmetered bandwidth is great.  i can download full steam games, watch youtube, and do all the internetz i want to do. 

 

 

 

 

either stay with verizon or get excede but you should also get a pfsense router out of a cheap computer. 

i would also go to a pawn shop, ebay, or your closet and get a cheap computer.  i am using a P4 3.0GHz with 2GB DDR and a 30GB HDD. 

also pick up a USB or PCI based Ethernet port a 10/100 (for a few extra bucks a 10/100/1000)

 

 

and get pfsense (teksyndicate has a video on how to get started) and set up Squid which does caching of images and other things to help limit how much bandwidth you use, i also set up a Firewall limiter to 300Kbps/150Kbps just to slow me and the other in the house down on their travels through the web.

i forgot about that, i mainly do single player or local co-op. 

 

 

well still try to get a PFSense computer up and running and install Squid and maybe a Firewall limiter, they will really help with saving on bandwidth.
