Hey guys I'm new to this forum and was hoping to get some help with my current computer. I don't know much about computers or computer parts or their compatibility so please go easy on me I'm very eager to learn.

I've been having issues with my current set up for a while now and I have decided to try and solve some of these issues.

First off the issues I'm having;

  • PC randomly goes into the blue screen (memory dump) and after a bit shuts off, this happens at random times too, sometimes when I'm gaming other times when I'm just surfing the web (funny enough happens a lot when I have too many tabs open in browser of videos and such). I live in a small dusty apartment with old carpets which causes my PC to get really dusty I try and clean it once every other week but I'm starting to think its the case/cooling set up that causes my CPU and GPU to get really hot even when I'm not doing anything not to mention its really really loud. I have not overclocked anything yet and was hoping to do so once this is done.

My set up currently;

CPU - Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology (using the fan that came with)

RAM - 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)

Motherboard - Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. P67X-UD3-B3 (Socket 1155)

GPU - 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner) x2 in crossfire

SSD - 232GB Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB ATA Device (SSD)

Power - Cooler Master GX 650W

Case - NZXT ... Also have a blue ray optical drive

The plan;

I was going to get a new case, motherboard, CPU liquid cooler and maybe a power supply. For case I looked at the Corsair Carbide Series 200R Black Steel / Plastic compact ATX Mid Tower Case. For motherboard I wasn't sure just cause I don't know enough of what is compatible with what. CPU cooler I was going get is a corsair Liquid cooling unit not sure which. Power I am not sure I need to upgrade.

I have a budget of about $300 - $400 to fix/improve my current set up, I was hoping to overclock the CPU and GPU once I upgrade some of the stuff so please if you have any suggestions for me I would appreciate it.

Simply put I want to get rid of that Blue screen issue as well as my over heating problem and allow me to overclock both the CPU and GPU. Let me know if you need any more information, again I really appreciate any help.

Try system restore to go back to a point before the bsod to see if it will fix it. If you want to upgrade then keep the mobo, upgrade the case, psu and get a hyper 212 evo. You're not going find any new mobo for your cpu because lga 1155 is dead.
