Hello guys!

As I'm building and ordering my stuff in next month, I've been thinking about a build like this.

I do have a few things that I HAVE to have in it.

Asus Maximus vii formula

the Phantek Enthoo Pro case

And a modular PSU.

And yes. I do know that the maximus VII Formula is a complete "waste" of money, no need to mention it.

All I want is suggestions to "improve" this build at any point.

Thank you.

(The ram should ba Black. I could't find 2x4 black)

Perhaps a bigger PSU in case at some point you want to do some SLI? Not sure if 550W is right for such a rig....

I think most people overcompensate when it comes to psu's. Future video cards will start to utilize less power too, just something he should keep in mind.

You know, he's close to 400W with that set up. A bigger PSU, even 650W, wouldn't hurt.

Everything looks great. I'd look into a 7200 rpm secondary drive and the noctua nh-d14 instead of the closed loop liquid cooler.

edit, Lose the 1333 ram and get 1600.

He will be fine.

RAM It's about $6 more and will do you better, especially in BF4 which likes high speed RAM. Also, if you livestream it'll help.

HDD instead of what you've got. You can substitute with any other 7200 RPM HDD of your choice, just don't get 5400RPM.

PSU instead. Unless you absolutely want gold efficiency, in which case we'll do a little hunting for ya.

If you want, SSD instead. It should be a bit faster and have a good bit longer of a lifespan, though it costs a bit more. The one you selected does ~700TB of writes anyway, though this one should pass ~1PB (1000TB)

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday

Cas 10 G.Skill 2400MHz Tridents costs the same as their 2133MHz kits but provides better latency and speed.

The WD 1TB Blue is a far superior HDD as it consistently has better average read and write speeds.

The CX Series by Corsair is really not that good at all (I still have no idea why people recommend it), the Rosewill Capstone 650-M costs $10 more and is a far superior PSU

The 840 Pro is entirely unnecessary for a Boot Drive/Programs/Couple games drive and is very expensive. The Crucial MX100 Costs $100 and is more than enough for a SSD main drive .

So sorry for not seeing this topic before now. Had a few probs with family.

Well as I'm going with a lot of good looks (which also shows why I'm getting the vii formula) I want it to look good. Which is why I've also chosen the hyperx fury ram. Looks nothing special, but you can see it's there, instead of g.skill huge thingys. haha.

about the HDD, I'd find a 7200 RPM HDD instead, but it was my first time using pc part finder, and took me ages anyway. I'm from Denmark and I could've find it on a danish website, but I'm pretty sure none of you would understand a brick of it :D

For the PSU, I'm not really entirely sure, but I'm going to upgrade to sleeved cables later on, therefore the request of fully modular PSU.

I would maybe go down to the Hero and take out the disk drive and save $175 , and put an extra $75 into a better PSU, $75 into going for a 290x over a 780 and $25 into getting a 2TB 7200RPM HDD (5400 is pretty bad)/

As for the motherboard, I would really not go away from the vii formula, because of the looks. I know I can get a lot of motherboards with similar performance for a cheaper price, but I'm willing to pay that more.

And the PSU, not sure which one I'll get. I just took the RM because that was the only modular PSU I could find, unless I'd go for a ax or hx.

I'm sitting with 120gb ssd 1tb hdd right now, and got over 50% space left in total with everything I need installed, so a need for 2TB HDD is not needed at the moment. Once I need I'll get another HDD.

And for the 290x/780 I don't really care. I was looking for a GPU with a black backplate like the asus cards, but my experience is that eVga has better GPU's and I can just go ahead and buy a backplate for a evga gpu. So if you know a GPU with a backplace 780/290x or whatever, I'd love to see it!

well if it's all about looks and price/performance doesn't matter than you have a fine machine there!

Thanks a lot!

I tried to find more ram like this;http://www.amazon.co.uk/HyperX-Series-1866MHz-Memory-Module/dp/B00J8E90I2/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408352324&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=kingston+hyperx+fyry and I hope 1866mhz would be enough.

Also for the 780, I tried to look for 290x but could't find any with a decent look (mostly black/red is not 100% black) with a nice backplate)

I've tried to look at the lightning and vypor-x but both has mixed colours.

It doesn't matter if RAM MHz is 1333, 1600, 1866, 2133, 2400 or whatever. It doesn't increase performance in games, except you're running on integrated graphics. 1600MHz is totally fine.

See: http://lifehacker.com/when-ram-speed-matters-and-how-it-affects-your-games-1436679680

There is a black R9-290X from Asus without red: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121840&cm_re=r9_290x-_-14-121-840-_-Product

The red is only a sticker.

Yearh I've heard that. And seen a few tests with it, yet people say I should get like.. 3Ghz or something insane like that. I'll just keep with my 1866.

Oh god. That's perfect. You've just made my day man...

Don't go with Asus for AMD this gen, they never changed the DCUII cooler to fit the card properly so it runs very hot.

Nothing wrong with the Asus, I have it and it performs exactly as reviews say, so coolest on idle and 1/2 degrees hotter on load than the sapphire.
