Which Chromebook?

so i'm looking at getting a chromebook for school which i will upgrade the ssd to 128/ 256 and throw a linux distro onto

right now its between the:

Acer C720P - http://www.acer.ca/ac/en/CA/content/model/NX.MJAAA.003

 

Dell Chromebook 11 - http://www.dell.com/ca/business/p/chromebook-11/pd

and the

i'm looking at the 4gig config for each laptop and i'm leaning toward the hp mainly because of the screen size but its a bit difficult to find in canada compared to something like the c720p. i have managed to find the dell on tigerdirect for about the same price as i can get the acer but all i can find for the hp is in america and i'm in canada so i don't know if it would be worth it after the shipping and customs fees

i'd like to hear from you. what one would you get and why. at this point i'm thinking it gotta be between the acer and dell but if i can find the hp for the same price i'd go with that.

The Acer is touchscreen, for what that's worth. Personally would get HP, though.

I would buy the Acer personally, from owning the previous gen model. Realistically, most any one would do, but don't get one of the god awful ARM models. They're so slow that it's painful, besides the Tegra K1 model.

HP 14 inch, it's better.

HP, it has a bigger screen and it's less expensive unless you want the touch feature, go for the Acer

i can get the acer for 330, the dell for 340 and i don't know if i can get the hp

does anyone know if the hp has a 2.5" drive instead of an m.2? and is the wireless card upgradable? all i can really find for chroromebooks is c720p teardowns which has shown me that the wireless card is soldered and the ssd is m.2 2242. if the hp has either or both a 2.5" drive/ removable wireless card that would sell it for me since i have an extra ssd in my desktop that doesn't really need to be there and id like ac wireless

you're correct on the dell not having an upgradable ssd although it has upgradeable wireless while every other chromebook i'v seen has the wireless card soldered on with the ssd not being soldered on. id like to get the hp but i don't think its going to be easy so might just settle for the acer. does anyone know for sure if the ssd in the hp is m.2 or is it another form factor

what about the 11" hp? i found out it has an ips display which i'd prefer over the tn panels i'v seen on anything else including i think (correct me if im wrong) the 14" model. is there a 4gig model and can the ssd be upgraded in the 11"?

The Dell one is the best balanced product IMO. the ARM processors just cannot keep up with x86 for javascript crunching.

i'm not going to live with 16 or even 32 gigs of internal storage. anything without an upgradable ssd is out of the question at this point

I've got the Acer non-touchsreen Chromebook. No complaints here. Starts ultra quick, is pretty much silent and very light. Glad I got it.
