What options are out there for workstation type builds in terms of memory. For more details I'm looking for high frequency memory that is guaranteed to work but I'm also not looking for enterprise grade expensive crap.

My System Specs: (Short list) i7 4770k, GTX 780, many SSD's, a 2 TB HDD(deceased :( ), Corsair 650D. Full list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kchriz6097/saved/8dh7YJ

Upgrade Plan: Acquire some Black Noctuas then add 16 or 32GB of 2133MHz memory

I really think it doesnt matter

I've had some issues with a lot of "normal" memory when working.

Any kit that's like 1866 will suffice, you don't need really high frequency memory for a server.

I never said anything about a server... but, to clarify its a workstation for photo/video work.

I totally just misread that. I'm sorry! If it's for a workstation I would get memory that's above 2000mhz, the extra speed really helps with doing said things.

If you don't have an ECC compatible m/bd then just go with 1866 C9 RAM. I would pick Corsair Dom Plats personally. Yeah, they're just bin selected but why not go for the best of the bunch? I wish I had kept the link but there was a release from the largest German computer retailer in 2012 I think where they listed the returns for the RAM. Even the Corsair Vengeance Pro was in the double digit percentages. The Dom Plats? 0%. Not a single return. That impressed me.

Sir William of Orange: Corsair 230T - Rebel Orange, 4690K, GA-97X SOC, 16gb Dom Plats 1866C9,  2 MX100 256gb, Seagate 2tb Desktop, EVGA Supernova 750-G2, Be Quiet! Dark Rock 3, DK 9008 keyboard, Pioneer BR drive. Yeah, on board graphics - deal with it!

if you can find that, I'd be really interested in reading it.

ive never had qny problems with cheap memory even during 2day renderings

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

my Corsair Vengeance's seem to be poo i guess. I get crashes even when they are running at 1333MHz rather that 1600MHz.

With XMP set in the BIOS?

yup, they also got extremely hot no matter what you where doing. I'm sure they were the butt end of the bin.

I suspect you are right. Have you tried other memory and/or 1 or 2 modules to see if the issue is perhaps with the motherboard?

I have had good experiences with G.Skill Ripjaws Z.

I've had this shit memory for 2 years and I've used it in 3 different builds. Its definantly the memory, which is why I want something different. While I'm replying, do you know if ADATA XPG memory is good? I've seen logan talk about ADATA a lot but he might also be sponsored by it.

Adata has a decent reputation but I have not personally used any of their DDR3 parts.
