Hi Everyone,

I would like to upgrade my Radeon HD 6790 which is running 3 monitors, I've got a summer job before going to University so part of my pay is going on a new graphics card, say around £200-£250 would be ideal, I will be having a new build April next year so could crossfire/SLI with another card in the new build!

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks

System Specs are -

i7 2600k

8gb HyperX

Can't remember MoBo model

HD 6790

OCZ 650W 80Plus PSU

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking of the Sapphire Vapor-X R9 280X and then crossfire in the new build with the same card but I've read quite a lot of articles saying 2 GPU's aren't great compared to a higher end GPU which would mean I'd have to wait! Do you have any advice?:3

i would get the 280x, they mean like sli/xfireing 2 760s, people would recommend you get a 780 instead of the 2 760s

My Setup :P

Spoiler

Skylake: I7-6700|MSI B150 GAMING M3|16GB GSKILL RIPJAWS V|R9 280X (WILL BE 1070)|CRUCIAL MX300 + WD BLACK 1TB

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/197327-the-sli-information-guide/ use this to decide what you want to do about SLI. Some of the info will pertain to CrossfireX too (like how multiple GPUs help etc).

I really need to get this thing pinned for people who are considering two GPUs.

That being said, both the 770 and R9 280X should perform similar to each other, so up to you which card company you want at that point. I suggest 4GB vRAM for the 770 if you're going green team; the 280X's 3GB vRAM should be fine.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday

Thanks I just read the benefits etc from the article!(great article btw)

The 4GB 770's seem to get quite a bit more cost wise, I'm thinking sticking to my guns and going with a 280X and then crossfiring in the build!?

Thanks

Not a problem. Remember to read the downsides too! It's a full info and there's some suggestions at the end which you could probably adapt for yourself. Glad you like ^_^.
