Hi,

So I'm looking to upgrade my PC over the next year and I'm wondering what to buy and in what order to prioritise the purchases.

I'm a media student at university so I'll be looking for freelance filming and editing work and I'll also be doing uni work on this PC aswell as gaming.

Specs (what I think I should upgrade)

Case: Corsair 200r

Case fans: 2x corsair low noise ap at the front, 2x stock fans for exhausts (replace the exhausts for corsair sp fans, any better options?)

CPU: i5 4670k

CPU fan: stock (recommendations please, thinking a zalman CNPS9900 nt at the moment)

Ram: corair vengence 2x4gb (2 more sticks of 4gb, or should I go 4 sticks of 8gb?)

SSD: Samsung 540evo 120gb

HDD: Seagate barracuda 1tb (a 2tb HDD, WD black or another barracuda?)

Psu: Xfs Pro 450w (I wouldn't mind a semi modular PSU, should I upgrade wattage or am I okay at 450?)

GPU: nvidia gigabyte geforce gtx660

Mobo:gigabyte ga-z77-ds3h

Thanks for any help, if you have any further recommendations then feel free to tell me.

Eddie

no budget set in stone. My plan was to upgrade slowly throughout the year. Basically save for the next part on the list, buy it, save for the next part...

Woops, my bad! CPU is i5 3570k

The only thing I would upgrade is the GPU and the PSU, the one you have won't be enough for anything really, if you want more performance and then maybe the CPU cooler to a 212 Evo so you can overclock

Hi Eddie, since you are planning to use the PC for video editing and gaming, the WD Black drive is a very suitable option.

It is especially designed for intensive work with data, has a larger cache and comes with a 5-year warranty.

It is available with different capacities including 1 TB and 2 TB.

Below is a link to the HDD's specs on the WD website.

Hope this helps.
