I'll be building my first computer and I purchased the fx-8320 and Asus m5a97 in a bundle deal so once all my parts are in do I just slip in the disk for the mobo and it gives me a option for a BIOS update?

Found this thread so is a BIOS update actually needed the gigabyte board is also a 970 so..

You shouldn't need to update the BIOS but Asus motherboards typically come with software that will automatically and painlessly do it for you.
