Need Amp/Dac help

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

It could be the type of music i listen to. Mostly metal(along with all sub genres of it) rock and alternative. But my no means am i saying i'm not happy with them. Just wondering if i could get something more out of them is all really.

Volume could explain the "something missing" feeling. Increasing the volume will increase the amount of bass and detail that you perceive, so it wouldn't hurt to grab one of the mentioned amp suggestions IF you don't have enough volume currently.

So im using Beyerdynamic DT 990 pro headphones, and my on board sound. They do not sound bad by any means, but i feel like they are missing something, also the max volume is a bit lacking. For on board sound im using Gigabyte 990-fxa-UD3 motherboard.

My budget is around 100$ it can be stretched if needed, Just posting here to see what people will recommend.

If you have $100 to blow, I say go all-out and get the monoprice desktop amp: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=120&cp_id=12008&cs_id=1200801&p_id=11567&seq=1&format=2

That said, if "something is missing", it's hard to say if an amp will do anything about that. It could just be that the Beyer DT 990 aren't quite your cup of tea and it would be a shame to spend $75+ if that is the case.

not really, just more volume.

"Pardon my French but this is just about the most ignorant blanket statement I've ever read. And though this is the internet, I'm not even exaggerating."
