Visual Studio Express 2013 Installation Issues.

So I am trying to install Visual Studio Express 2013 to follow with Barnacules' programming video series but for a multitude of reasons I can't get it to install properly. On my first install, I downloaded it as the .exe and installed it fine. I started it up and the application just crashed as soon as it started. It gives me a (Not responding) sort of white tint and then crashes. I then tried downloading the .ISO and know it won't install VS 2013 because it keeps saying that there are things missing. Here is an example: http://i.imgur.com/Znx1d6e.png I have had this for a few things which I just went and downloaded the small things (the first one was "Microsoft Visual c++ 2013 x86 minimum runtime" and then I had to download the "Shell" I believe. Do I have to keep installing whatever pops up or is this some issue? 

 

Just because I didn't really say it clearly in the blob, it isn't giving me the link to download these thins, I just google them and get it off the Microsoft website.

Im pretty sure i'm up to date, I haven't stopped any restarts recently or anything like that.
