Hi all, I have finally got my system up and properly running with PiMP and I've ran into some problems.

First of all the display is under-scaled and everything is terribly slow. I also just got it running about 30 minutes ago so some tips would be helpful.

Anyways, will I have to shut down and boot into Windows on my HDD and change the display options in CCC or is there an easier way that I can do with PiMP?

And then we move on to how enormously slow PiMP is, whenever I want to do something everything bar the System Monitoring thing and my mouse freezes, and then after about a minute everything becomes responsve again. YouTube is a no-go atm for me, it takes about 3 minutes to load the page and then another 2 to load all the thumbnails and adds. I'm fairly certain it's not because of my PC specs as they are quite decent.

System:

OS: PiMP v1.5.6 - AMD 14.6

CPU: Intel Pentium G3220

Motherboard: ASRock H81 Pro BTC

GPUs: 3x R9 280X - Gigabyte OC Winforce Cooler Design (one inserted into 16x slot in motherboard and other two are connected via ASRock Pro BTC kits)

RAM: Kingston ValueRAM 4GB 1333MHz CL10

Storage: Some Toshiba 4GB USB

PSUs: 2x Silverstone Strider Essential

So I was thing that the USB was the problem because it is only 4GB but int he monitoring section on the desktop it reports that only 2.43GB is being used of 3.27GB available. So I'm really unsure as to why it takes so long to even just maximise a window.

Thanks if you guys help me out, I really do appreciate it.

Cheers!

I have found none of those mining distros such as BAMT, SMOS, or PiMP to be very good. I've just sticked with Windows which supports CGWatcher that automatically reboots my rig every ~1 day when a card get sick or the driver crashes, also higher hashrate.

Well imo I prefer Windows, but I do appreciate how you can run PiMP and BAMT (haven't heard of SMOS) on a USB which will decrease the wattage usage and consequently the power bill.

Edit:

Also I find it handy that I don't need to worry about any drivers or software, and I can have the knowledge that my system is running on an OS specifically designed for mining.

I also think I might just go into Windows tomorrow and change the scaling in CCC, though the large intervals where everything seemingly freezes is quite annoying.

Well a. I don't have a USB that is 3.0 capable and b.  I don't have a Win8 liscense, though I don't have one for Win7 and I can still use it. I'll try it out, thanks, I've got a plethora of USBs though all of them are 4GB.

I'm quite tired atm and I'm not sure what to make of that, is it fairly just a mining OS based off Windows 8.1??

Windows PE is a free version of Windows.

Aha, well I just downloaded WinToUSB v1.5 and should I get Win8.1 or Win PE?? Windows PE sounds like a super downgraded version Vista, so would I just be able to burn a Win8.1 image to the USB and run of that???

Also I just found a 16GB USB, it may be almost snapped in two but it still works fine, kinda :P
