You preferably need a ups that matches you psu's wattage. The other option is use a killowatt an figure out how much power it uses under full load and get one at least that big. The only ups's worth gettinf are the pure sine wave models which will be pricier.

I have been looking for an UPS for my system. It has a 550 watt PSU rated at 80 plus bronze. What UPS's could I get for under $100? If a power outage were to happen, I would only need one minute to turn off my computer.

Search for APC UPS.Go to their website and choose the ups that suits you best. They will also give you an idea how much you can run your computer if the main power is cutoff.

I use CyberPower AVR Series 1500VA UPSes on all of my system including my home theater setup, consoles, and file server. 1500VA is overkill for a 550W PC, you could probably get by with their 900VA model which is rated for 560W, they cost ~$120 though. I've been using mine for over 4 years without any issues. I live in the midwest and have regular blackouts/brownouts and other power fluctions every winter. Haven't had a single battery fail on me yet. If you are using Windows for your OS, they have a utility you can install that lets you configure the alarms and see power status through a system tray app.
