Budget G3258 OC

Hello everybody. I'm getting Asus H81M-D PLUS soon and I was wondering if somebody has ever tried overclocking G3258 on such a board.

before you can use the Pentium

 

you need to do a BIOS flash with a normal Haswell CPU and RAM installed and running in the BIOS

It will over clock but if you want to go 4. something ghz then get a better mobo because it maintain stable with the power phase. Also get a aftermarker cooler to oc, stock cooler won't push you far.

Intel is putting a stop to OC on H81,H87,B85 and H97 boards

 

they expect you to use a Z87 or Z97 board for official OC

I've already did it.

yeah i've seen h81 boards from asrock do 4.3/4.5ghz

Yeah but it's not my fault if you break your mobo by oc. But get a aftermarket cooler.

an 4.0ghz shouldn't get close to 80 watts

Pentium... If you're buying an i5+ with b81 motherboard you're missing out.

If anyone is still interested: 3.8 GHz, works fine under cheap DeepCool heatsink. I am OC'ing it further as soon as I figure out how to tweak the voltage.
