My mothers computer it's just one she bought from best buy for around $500 3years ago. Today I was at her house when she tried turning it on when she clicked her power button nothing happened she then told me it does it all the time started about 2weeks ago. My 1st thought was PSU was dying but then she just hit the switch on her surge protector turning it on then off and the computer turned right on. So idk if its the PSU or the surge protector not working. I checked all the Cables to make sure here psu was connected. What would do this?

I would try only plugging in your computer in the surge protector to see if it boots as it might be the surge protector not being able to handle the load of all your other electronics thus tripping it so that you have to reset it and it somehows fix it. I would also try a different wall outlet if you haven't already done so.
