Friend pc Build

Msxander99

Hi my friend built a pc on pc part picker, and he wants to know if he did good

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Gmj3gs

(make any adjustment if you feel fit)

^^^^^^^^^^1,000~CAD limit ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

:D Thanks guys

the mobo is too expensive, he should get one that costs 90€ like the Asus gryphon, in my opinion getting an devils canyon cpu is stupid cause you need to spend aso much more on the mobo and they arent faster.

Seems about right. if hes going to be mainly using it for gaming then the 280x over the 270x will be worth it in the long run.

could save a bit a cash and go for an 8350 if you're happy with amd cpu. means for the same price as above you can get an ssd... just a thought.

oops. didnt look at psu wattage sorry

Yeah you should probably get a bit better PSU for an FX 8350 + R9 290. I just throwed the Rosewill in there because it's so cheap at the moment for a 550W 80Plus Bronze Semi Modular PSU. But I think the offer ends today and then you should go with something different anyway I guess.

If that is how you think, why don't you like my build? The intel i5 4690k is a lot better than the FX 8350, and I have a R9 290 in there. To me, my build is the best price to performance from all choices here.

Noticed as soon as I posted that it probably wouldn't work lol.

don't focus too much on the individual parts I've chosen they're there for more of a reference, just trying to say that with an 8350 you're going to get more for your money compared with an i5. i.e. better gpu and ssd. worth it i think.

1. I never said I don't like your build?!?

2. There are two things that disturb me with your build.

The first is that you went from a very expensive high quality mainboard to a low end Z97 board. Second is you changed the case to a much cheaper one. The case is a very personal choice, and if he picks a 84$ case that's not without reason. So I guess he likes the case and wants to spend a bit extra to get it. That's why I kept his case.

These two points make me think that my build is maybe not better generally, but for Msxander99.

Hard to say. Many say it's legit, many say it's not. I think there must be a reason why they can sell it for 20 bucks and normally it costs 90-100$. I wouldn't buy windows off g2a. I don't know if it's legit or not, but I know that MANY people had problems with their codes.

A Haswell Refresh CPU on a H87 mainboard? You, Sir, will have a bad time. Also what do you need 16GB of RAM for?

Knew i'd seen it somewhere!

"I received an answer from Microsofts piracy prevention team indicating that g2a is not authorized for sales of windows licenses or keys."

I'd rather not, but individuals choice.

I'd have to say you should at least consider an amd cpu. not a fanboy or anything just when on a budget for a gaming pc the cpu can be worse off for the performance increase of an ssd and a better gpu.

Imo you don't really save much with a FX 8350. It has much higher power consumption, means you might need a better PSU and/or cpu cooler. Also the good mainboards are really expensive. And the i5 just performs a good bit better. I'm not an Intel fanboy. As a matter of fact I prefer AMD as a company, but they are just not delivering good enough high end cpus at the moment (Athlon II X4 is unbeatable for low budget builds).

I've gotten codes off them and they work fine. The cheap prices are because they bulk buy keys.

Well don't believe me then, it's just Microsoft trying to get more money out of you... Many people on this forum got Windows 8 on G2A like me.

I would buy from G2A, Because you can get caught using a fake key 4 times before it would have payed off to buy via microsoft. And that would probably not happen.

It might depend on the country you live in, but here in Germany we have a law that says: Unknowlegde does not protect against punishment. Which basically means if you are using a fake key, which is illegal, Microsoft can bust your ass for it.

We have the same in Sweden, but I doubt that they would go for someone who thought they purchased a real one instead of doing it to someone who pirated it.

If I was Microsoft, I'd sue G2A, and not it's members.
