Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a camera to use in my current university project. It needs to fulfill kind of special criteria, and I don't really have an idea on what to look for.

The project is about designing and building a mobile open water tunnel for lectures and tutorials for the Institute for aerodynamics and gas dynamics of the University of Stuttgart, Germany. Since the vehicle must be mobile and therefore small, but the lectures are usually attended by 200+, sometimes 400 students, we decided that we would use a camera to transmit the flow visualisation to a projector. Now we are looking for a proper camera to capture the show.

Must-have-criteria:

- 30 fps or more

- Not too wide viewing angle (if focal length is fixed)

- Low distortion

- Colored image

- Should perform well in lecture hall light (we're using extra lights though)

- USB connection

- Does not exceed 300 € (400 US-$, 240 £)

Nice-to-have-criteria:

- Tripod mount

- Adjustable focal length

- Adjustable aperture/exposure

- Software included recording

- Cheap

We are not excluding any kind of camera. Dedicated lab cams, webcams, camcorders or something else - if it does the job, we'll take it. Any suggestions?

Regards,

Tataffe
