I got a new server for data storage, and thought id try out FreeNas. I had it installed on a thumb drive, and used an onboard drive as the data drive.

After a while, i gave up on it and decided to do a simple Ubuntu server with Samba for file sharing. Ubuntu installed with no problems on the internal drive, and i told it to only do a quick format because i was tired and wanted to go to bed.

After i had samba and ssh the way i wanted it, i rebooted the system and was met with the screen:

"This is a FreeNAS data disk and can not boot system. System halted."

I re-inserted the USB disk and told it to boot from that, and after a few seconds it booted straight into Ubuntu Server (I did verify that i did not accidentally install the OS onto the thumb drive).

Is there any way to purge the FreeNas remnants from the disk without doing a full format and re-installing?

Thanks

~Judah
