Have you tried seeing if there is unallocated space using the Windows Disk Management utility?

Go to Disk Management and set it to GPT to be able to use all 3TB.

How Do I do that? Windows 8

 

Not too sure since I'm only running Windows 7... It should be somewhere there... Try opening any folder, then right click on "My Computer", then click on "Manage"... It should be under storage... But please note that this is Windows 7 and knowing Windows 8, it should have this feature too...
