Lubuntu can do the job on your Mac

Im not going to do anything any time soon. I just tried depian and almost killed my mac.

 

I spend hours triing to get the mac to work, and i finaly am getting osx back on it.

 

Ill update to tiger, and see how much i can do.-

give it a try to Lubuntu (make an ISO cd for the mac) before come back
 
you only will need 384mb of ram (and choose the option "graphical installation" on the install)
