Install Dayz Commander if you want to play dayz the Epoch mod is imo the best at the moment.

For wasteland servers type CCG for host in the filter area they have good servers for beginners.

Don't Forget to scale your resolution proper or else you will get a blurry experience while playing the game.

Step 1: Get DayZ Commander

Step 2: Install Epoch, Overwatch and any maps that you want from DayZ Commander and you're good to go.

Thanks, currently downloading ;)

I think bad version error is something to do with new versions of DayZ/Arma 2 and servers not being updated yet. Try downloading the latest beta version and installing it. I can't remember exactly how to do it, but if you google it, the same solution should come up in several threads.

EDIT: Sorry, what you want to do is use DayZ Commander to go to the second to most recent Arma 2 version. So if the most recent is 1.12, you'll want to go for the one below that. I think you have to delete the Arma 2 and Arma OA folders in Program Data to be able to update to the right version.
