Newegg is selling the Corsair AX1200i at 15% off along with a mail-in rebate of $30 that both end on 5/27.  Rebates on Newegg are pretty famous for not getting honored.  Being from Corsair, do you think I'll get the rebate if I send it in?

On a side note, is a AX1200i too large for my build?

Yeah. 750-850 watt should suffice. Just to be sure, use this power supply calculator for wattage. http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

Do it correctly and it should be accepted.  Usually they say the UPC code wasn't included so make sure you tape it securely to the form and take a picture before you wrap it up.

All my rebates from Corsair have been honored.  Come to think of it all my rebates from anyone have all been honored.

I also want to mention that I'll be trying to use the absolute maximum overclock on this... is that small of a PSU still more than enough?  Everything I've ever been told has said otherwise.  I did use that calculator and it brought me pretty close to about 800, and people say add on at least another 100w to that.

Yeah. I'd bump up the power supply a bit. 950 watts, or perhaps 1,000 watts.

I'm gonna run that calculator one more time and post what I get.

2-way SLI?  750W is more than enough.  850W if you plan to go nuts with the overclocking on CPU and both cards.

The Twin Frozr variant is probably a better idea though, keeps it cooler so better overclocking.  Unless you're planning on running a custom loop.

What overclock are you shooting for and at what voltage?

With that build?  Of course it'll be custom loop lol.

As for overclock and voltage, I don't even know since I've never overclocked before.  I'm expecting 4.0 Ghz at least with the CPU and 1200 Mhz on both GPUs.

Then pretty low voltage.

Without any fans, I've come up with 555 watts for recommended power(dual 7970s). Also, I went with no pumps as well, and 1.2 voltages on the 3570K(Bear in mind, you can go lower with a 4GHz overclock. Just using it for reference).

Today the wattage calculator seems to be telling me just under 800 watts.

It'll have a lot of fans... about 20.

I doubt that would even work once you put it under load lol.

A 7970 at stock has around 200W TDP at max load.  Overclocked maybe 250W.  Lets say 100W for your OC'd CPU, another 100W for everything else in the system including the pump and the 20 fans (1-2W each).

That's around 700W.  So yeah the AX1200i would probably be a good fit.

Yeah?  Alright I probably should have mentioned all that at the beginning...

When I calculated it, I put the "computer" under full load. But yup. 1200i should work nicely, after seeing all this.

i got my rebate credit card from corsair in 6months for SSD, PSU, RAM, H100.

totaled $145 which i re-blew @ corsair for corsair link (booooo) on special pricing.

1200 is far too much PSU, tri 480/580 or 6900 GPU, but new tech is far less power

hungry for SLI/CFX.
