I have reorganized my wiring for my headphones/speakers.  I have them both hooked up at the same time.  USB for headphones, and the speakers come from the audio out port on my monitor.

Is there an on screen software solution to flip a switch between the two options?  As it is I have to open the sound software and change the default device back and forth.  I'd like something in the system try to let me just flip between the two.

Anything like that out there or is there a way to set that up in Win 8.1 natively?  Thanks in advance.

Right click on the speaker at the bottom of windows next to the clock.

Playback devices.

Set the one you want to use to default device.

Yeah, that's how I'm doing it now, just wish I could set up a toggle switch in the system tray.

That is the only way I know to do it. I doubt there is anything else that does the same thing because you could just use windows. You could get a physical switch on your desk. Get a USB to 3.5mm adapter. I'm sure there is a switch like that.

You would think with all the freeware out there, nobody thought of doing this before though.  If only I could program I'd have a freeware bit for this out.   Basically it would have to scan all the audio devices, and then give you a menu of the ones you want to toggle between/cycle through.  After you set it up, it's just a one click adjustment. Click, and now it's headphones, click and now it's speakers, click and now it's mute, all from the system tray.   I'm not a programmer by any means but I'm betting the coding required for this is tough, or else it would have already been done.

Well, to be honest, there is no need for a program like this because windows already does it...
