Hey guys,

I've been brainstorming ideas for the past couple of hours about what to do for my ICT project at school. Lets just say that didn't go so well and have only come out with one idea which I will share later. I need a preferably hardware centric project that I can do for the rest of the term (~10 weeks), although I'm sure I could do two or three smaller projects if I talked to the teacher. He wants a project that focuses on hardware, software or networking but I can do other things, but it will be harder to get good marks. I do really enjoy the hardware side of computers anyways, so that would be preferred. The project can't be too expensive to conduct as It will have to come out of my own pocket or already be available at school. The only idea that I could come up with is to get my teacher to do something to a computer (ie give it a virus, dodgy RAM, flat bios battery ect) and then get me to troubleshoot and fix the issue, although I'm sure this wouldn't take me a whole term.

Any ideas or suggests that you may have would help me out a lots and be very appreciated (Hope this is in the correct thread),

Thanks,

Cody

One thing you could do which I find really fun and useful, is to repurpose old computer hardware for use in a more modern environment. They can be really simple and cheap(or free if you get recycled/thrown away hardware) and even benefit you outside of school. Things like a file server(think freenas with a UFS volume) or make a router with custom firmware/opensource OS (great for people who don't have a router that easily supports port fowarding or QoS.

There's plenty of tutorials for these types of projects so definitely worth a thought.
