So I have had SP120s for a year and a half now but I had never used typical self threading fan screws (the kind you really have to force), they were always mounted to a rad or something else with machine screws. I tried using a typical self threading fan screw when I got my new case and it required so much force that the anti-vibration rubber was ripped out and it was distorted during the process....all of that and the screw was only in half way. I can't find the box for my SP120s, did it come with special screws that won't damage them? I want to get some more for my new case but with these screws I am having second thoughts

Yes actually, the sp120's came with slightly different screws, they were black and the same thing happened to me. I swapped the black screws for some normal self tapping screw (because I wanted black screws on my side panel) and the normal screws just complete ripped apart the rubber grommets on my AF120's.

So yeah the corsair fans are different to normal screws. But only slightly.
