I'm pretty sure it's your harddrive. An SSD won't do you any good if you can't store many games on it. You'd be better off getting a WD blue 1TB and short stroking the first 200GB.

I recently build a new computer. It has the following things build in:

CPU: AMD FX-3600 @ 3,5 Ghz

Motherbord: Asus M5A78l-m/USB3

Memory: 2x 4GB Corsair 1333 Mhz.

GPU: MSI Radeon R9 270 Gaming Edition

HDD: 360GB Western Digital 7200RPM

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 dualboot with Windows 8.1 N x64

The problem is that is has been slower then my Toshiba notebook. It has the following specifications:

CPU: Intel Core i3 3217U @ 1,8Ghz

Memory: 1x 4GB 1600 Mhz

GPU: Intel HD 4000

HDD: 500GB 5400 RPM.

OS: Windows 8.1 x64

I don't know why my PC is slower, but it has better specifications and i already completely wiped my HDD several times, and tried reinstalling windows. I even have reset my motherboard to standard settings. I hope someone could help me with this problem.

The Win 8 boot would be faster, but the RAM is gonna slow things down. You may have more of it in the desktop, but it's slower. Dual-booting will also be slower than single booting an OS, as the boot manager has to find both OS's before it can proceed past that, which takes time. I doubt the HDD is the problem, since you should have around 180GB left over, at least, and it's a faster 7,200RPM drive. Last thing, why do you have an N version of Windows? They sell for the same cost, and you just lose features...

Edit: I forgot the N monicker shifted in 8, and is for the European market. If able to get a non N version though, I still would have.

1333 memory will not slow things down.. That's like saying 2400mhz is better than 1333 with a dedicated GPU, when we all know the difference is 1-2FPS.

My point is still valid. I never said how much :P Now, if OP had no GPU, and was using an APU, then it would make a huge difference, same with the RAM amount, but OP is not.
