[Build Assistance] Story of the hopeless PC Builder.

American.. I can't find an Australian version :( Also with the RAM i'm not sure what is the wisest to go for.. Anyone help with this predicament?

I would stick with low profile ram so as to avoid any clearance issues with your current/future cpu cooler.

Something like this:

Final build I think! Please give a rating out of 10 :)

7. It actually is quite a good build.

It would be better with G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory for the memory kit. These are lower profile modules that will fit under the Hyper 212 EVO fan. The Ripjaws would not fit without raising the fan on the cooler. Cost is the same.

The big issue is the size of the psu. While I am confident that the HCG 620 would run the system, according to Sapphire the TRI-X R9 290 requires a minimum 750W psu. In fact all manufacturers seem to be recommending 750W psu for their R9 290 which leads me to believe that there have been issues. If memory serves not too long ago the recommendation was for 650W. I would suggest EVGA 110-B2-0750-VRSilverstone ST75F-P, or EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR.

You could save a bit getting Kingston SV300S37A/120G instead of the Crucial.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Out of my current Antec Power Supply, EVGA 110-B2-0750-VRSilverstone ST75F-P, or EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR, which would you guys recommend? If it is worthwhile I'll get the best.

The "best" in that list is the EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR.

I like the second build mostly because I prefer Asus motherboards. Either build is good with a couple of quibbles. The first build should use the same o/s version as the second. Also in both builds the memory kit is not a good choice with the Hyper 212 EVO. I would suggest Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9 instead. The kit is actually a little less expensive. The big thing though is that the modules are under the nominal max module height for the cooler.

Apart from the SSD that looks good to me. The PSU is very good. It is a bit 'in between' power wise as you would only need 550/600W for a single gpu, and 850W for crossfire, so 750W is a bit in the middle. The extra wattage will help it to run quieter though so it's nothing to really bother about. The 10 year warranty is very nice too  :)

If you can stretch another $19 then I would suggest the Crucial MX100 SSD. The V300 is pretty slow.

You changed just the ram and ssd ? They are both very good alternatives, so click on 'buy' before you change your mind again  :D

I don't think the HyperX Fury is a good choice - it is CAS 10 and 9 is much better on DDR3-1600. I also wonder why it is being ordered from Amazon. Won't the shipping costs make it quite expensive?

No it just couldn't be added on pcpartpicker, what Ram do you suggest then ._.

I doubt you would notice a difference between CAS 9 and CAS 10 ram in normal usage. I would go for whatever is cheapest out of them all.
