Didn't know this TBH.

 

Why can't they just give it the XP treatment. 14 years.

They are not dropping security updates until 2020. What is ending is primary support, which is the addition of new features, new service packs and the like, which BTW, XP lost in April 2009. 

 

Honestly, I don't care one way or another. Will run Vista or 8 for a long while yet, and there is always Linux, Unix, and OSX if I don't like where windows is heading.
