I'd say upgrade the motherboard first. This will allow you to continue using your current AM3 cpu on an updated AM3+ board.

MOBO - Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0   CPU - AMD Phenom II X6 1055T @ 3.5GHz - Corsair H80i   RAM - 2x Corsair Vengence 4GB DDR3 @ 1666 MHz

GPU - SAPPHIRE 100362-3L Radeon R9 290 4GB Tri-X OC  Sound - ASUS Xonar DSX  PSU - Thermaltake SMART M Series SP-850M 850W

7870 is a very nice card in terms of price to performance. If you wanna go lower, it's the 7850 and then the 650ti boost I guess.

ill look at them and check my dad got a 7770 recently and i decided ima upgrade too and save my old parts build a junker console replacement for living-room seeing as i only use my Xbox for halo

Yeah, even though I have a GTX 670, right now AMD cards are the best cards on the market for their price to performance ratio, and with all of the games they come with. Either way, wait for GTX 7xx.

price didnt go down but seems like a good card

and nvidas new game optomiser program has me runing good 45 frames on assassins creed on lowest settings -_- still need an upgrade
