Hey guys,

I'm about to buy a small 11.6 inch notebook to use Linux on.(I will be using several distros) I also want to buy a SSD to put in the laptop because I don't think I can handle a HDD ever again. Problem is I can't find any info on SSD's and Linux (well a little). So the questions are:

Is it worth my time to use a SSD with Linux?

Is there a particular brand of SSD that performs best with Linux?

What is the process to set up a SSD with Ubuntu (main distro I'll be using)?

Will I run into problems using other distros such as tails, debian, etc.

Thanks

I recommend starting with Ubuntu (download link) because it is designed as a usable Linux out of the box and is a great starter distro. Any SSD will work fine with Ubuntu and most other Linux distros.

To install it on another computer, create a bootable USB stick. Then, install Ubuntu.
