PC having fps drops

Go to solution Solved by Jodomcfrodo,

yeah i did its all good there, i actually think is hardware wise, i mean like some part is dying or something. I don't really know

Usually this isn't hardware if the utilization isn't up. Means the software isn't utilizing the full potential of the GPU.

As a last resort, I would take a back up of a every file that isn't related to your GPU. (Don't take a back up of drivers or such because then you will just be reinstalling a potentially broken piece of software.)

And then reinstall windows. It may seem like a hassle, but it really isn't all that bad.

I started getting frame drops on every game the past few weeks, I would like to know if my gpu is bad or my psu or my mb its hard to know. I thought i was getting a background application that was causing it but it turns out that its actually not. The gpu usage is dropping. My temps for everything are well below the recomended. cpu on 45C and gpu around the 57C, 60C all on load.

Windows 8.1

AMD FX 8320

Asrock 970 Extreme 3

MSI GTX 760 Gaming

8GB Crucial ballistix RAM

1TB WD Blue HDD

Corsair CX600M

Hyper 212 Evo.

I really need help today i was playing bf4 and i was getting average 70fps on high with stutters but after it just drop constantly to the 50s 40s 30s etc. It has been good until a few weeks ago.  Please help me kind people, i  dont know what to do.

Is all your ram installed correctly? I reinstalled ram and didn't push one stick in all the way resulting in only 4gb of ram being recognized when I meant to have installed 8. Had the exact same issues as you. Check with task manager.

If that doesn't work, reinstall drivers.

If that doesn't work, reinstall game.

If that doesn't work, reseat the card.

If that doesn't work, I have no idea.

Sometimes windows parks your cores and essentially allot of games windows will park cores so only 4 cores are available and you bottlekneck. Sorry for spelling on on a mobile device

well I just noticed that gpu usage drops, it doesnt lower the core clock, memory clock or anything cpu doesnt drop, only the usage of the gpu

still, it could be parking cores.  Happened to allot of people in bf4.

Open up Resource Monitor and go to the CPU tab, if your on windows there can sometimes be a grayed out cores with parked on them, thats because windows tries to save power and heat and enable them when you need them but sometimes it doesnt work, there is a registry fix you can do to fix core parking.  Very easy :)
