Is DDR4 available to the public yet? 

If so, does anyone on LTT have DDR4 yet? 

 

Supposedly Broadwell supports DDR4, but only for server platforms? Meaning for anyone to really use DDR4, we need LGA 1151? 

 

I'm in this awkward upgrade phase where I currently have an outdated rig and started upgrading it (got an i7 4790, but still need to get a mobo for it). But now I feel like just putting everything on hold and waiting on either broadwell or skylake, but I don't know, skylake is 2.5 years away it seems? 

 

 

Your thoughts on this?

Don't worry about it. Ddr3 still isn't being saturated completely, as such 99% of people will yield no benefit from ddr4, and in actuality, will be negatively affected as it will be more expensive.

Most lga1150 boards support 32gb ram up to 3200mhz. Most people are using 8gb at 1600-1866.

If anyone does, it is not being used. AMD and Intel have not yet released any CPUs that contain a DDR4 memory controller.
