Hey, so I have previously had problems with my netgear n750 with slow internet speed. So I used the warranty got a new one and it was good for the next 2 or 3 months. Now the internet seems to cutout. So far it only happened 2 times, but I fear it's going to start happening more often. When the internet was out, I tried logging into my router , but for some reason wouldn't connect. This is why I believe the router is faulty.  I highly doubt my modem is busted. I simply restarted the router leaving the modem untouched. And after the reboot the internet was back on again. Full speed. Tested with speed test.

Any thoughts on my situation?

Modem: Motorola SB6141

Router: Netgear N750

You can't get into your router's web UI?  I've had this similar problem with my netgear wndr3700.  For some reason the wndr3700 wouldn't let me connect to it's web UI unless the router was connected to the modem with an internet signal.  Else it would just timeout and never get to the user/password prompt.

What I described sounds kindof like what you were describing while your internet was down.  Check with your ISP and see if they had any outages in your area.  The strange inability to connect to the Netgear UI unless an internet signal seems to be a netgear software/firmware issue.  But it may be your ISP was at fault for the outage to begin with.

You can check your modems logs though to get some idea of what was happening.  The SB6141 ip address is usually 192.168.100.1.  Type that into a browser address bar and go to the logs page to see if you see anything strange around the time window that your internet was down.

I called up TWC internet support. There wasn't any outages in my area. Also I'm not exactly a pro at networking but....  WHY DOES THE LOG SAY DOS ATTACK......... it was the exact same day I had to unplug and re-plug my router to get my internet on again.

EDIT: Did a quick google search and it turns out torrenting might be perceived by the router as a DOS Atttack

EDIT 2: NONE OF MY DEVICES HAS THIS IP Address.....

This was a line from the logs:

[DoS Attack: RST Scan] from source: 39.44.57.139, port 45192, Friday, July 11, 2014 12:31:59
