Hello forum members,

today I recieved my new R9 290X DCUII. When I installed it my PC wouldn´t boot. So I tried out different things, bought a PSU tester and so on.

Then I went into the BIOS to check voltages to compare it to the tester. I went out without changing anything and it started booting correctly.

So it is until now. Everytime I go into BIOS before booting it works, if not, it doesn´t.

It is not that big of a deal, I would go and sent it back, but if there is a way to go around it it would be nice.

Thanks for the help.

I´m sure it is. When I go into BIOS first everything works fine. Only when I don´t it wouldn´t work. It goes up till the loading screen of windows and then the screen turns black and mouse and GPU leds turn off.

Is the 6/8pin connectors attached properly? Try to unplug them and plug them back in.

I understand the issue, lets try something else. In the BIOS change the boot order so your primary boot HDD or SSD isn't there at all. Save the settings and restart your computer. You'll get a message saying there's a missing OS but once you see that restart anyway and now boot back into the BIOS. Now make your normal boot drive back to the primary. Save the settings, restart, and see if it works.

Idk if it's this, but the high-end DCUII cards have had a lot of issues.

Ok, tried it out but unfortunately it didn´t work. Any other ideas?

Okk, I´m back from trying it out. Problem is still there. Pretty strange problem I guess.

Yeah it is pretty strange. Can you try to clear your CMOS? Unplug everything from your computer and take out the battery on your motherboard, leave it out for at-least a minute and put it back in.

I have a clear CMOS button, is that ok as well?

Try updating your bios.

Since we've tried just about everything, you can try what lani recommended initially of updating your BIOS.

Thank you very much guys! This actually worked. Now I´m a much happier user. I can just say thanks again.
