Hi, I'm trying to overclock my 4930k chip and was just wondering what the max temperature is.

CPU: Intel I7 4930k 4.4GHz | Motherboard: Asus x79 Deluxe | Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws Z Series (4x4GB) 2400mhz 10-12-12-31 | GPU: EVGA GTX 770 SC |


Case: Fractal Design Define R4 | Storage: Samsung 840 250GB & WD Velociraptor 1TB | PSU: Seasonic Platinum Series 860 |


Cooling: Noctua NH-U-14S Two Fans | Case Fans : 3 Noctua NF A14 FLX  | OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

100, 90 is best tho, 80 for long runs

wow it can go that high? my old computer was fx 8350 and highest it can go was 62c

What cooler do you have on that 4930K?

Try to not get it over 85 C though.

75-80.

But that much heat can fry the chip can't it.

you cant fry a cpu, it will shut down well before that, and no they are rated safe at 110c most of the time, but like most of us we get nervous when it goes above 80(if it goes that high)

i just finished overclocking at 4.4 with 1.300volts and ran prime95 for about 1.5 hours and got temp of 72C max. thank you again guys!

 

Edit: I originally got 76 C but I did a dual fan mode and the temperature went down 4 degrees.
