I currently have a GT 430 in my computer. At the time I was on quite the budget.

Now that I have the extra money, I would like to upgrade. I was looking at the XFX r9 280 but, I'm not sure if there is anything in the same price range for this amount of power. I'm a casual gamer, but this is mainly for hd video rendering, so how would this card preform or would you recommend something else?

Also will my Power supply be able to run everything safely? I plan to overclock the card just a tad as well.

CPU: AMD Phenom ii 975 BlackEdition @ 3.6ghz

GPU: GT 430

Ram: Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) Generic 1333

HDD: WD Green 2TB 7200

PSU: OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w

Your power supply would definitely be able to handle a 280. mines only 160w more, but it also powers 3 OC'd GPUs, 5 HDDs, overclocked 12 core processor, and 16 GB of ram.

As for the GPU; If you aren't looking for the "MOST EPIC EXPERIENCE" then you'll totally be fine with it.From my experience as a (shitty) VFX designer/editor, a lot of memory helps more than processing power (GPU or CPU) in most cases.

I might be wrong.

I'm thinking a GTX 760 or a GTX 770 for yourself.

You mentioned that you do creative work, which Nvidia cards tend to do better on at the current moment.

Of course, the R9 280x will do much better than the GTX 760, but you do get a card which consumes less power and overclocks better.

My general recommendation though, is the GTX 770, since it is only £20 more here in the UK and you get more for your money. As well as that, you get a card which isn't a storage heater.

Compatible with Windows 95

I don't know, personally I'd get a 280x rather then 760....but I agree with 770 > 280x

Yeah, as a GTX 760 owner, I think that at the price point, the GTX 760 is kind of terrible, I'd only pay about £150 for it in hindsight, however, I payed £210 for it when it was new.
