Why should I upgrade to a six core 3.5ghz when i can get a quad core 3.8 ghz?

Edit: others have suggested this but i dont want to lose performance... plus this is already a huge upgrade for me.

You won't be losing any performance, you'll be gaining some. Just because the other processor is clocked at 3.8GHz doesn't mean its a better processor.

I would go with a better processor if you have the money.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

well yeah money is kind of the issue but 3.8 gHz isnt too bad to me....big improvement compared to a 1.87gHz cpu. plus it can be overclocked

I would try to get an AM3+ Mobo and CPU. With FM2, there is no upgradability. So I'd go with an AMD 6300, or something close to that.

Why cant you upgrade with FM2. Cant I just buy a new CPU and replace the CPU that I have right now?

The Cpu you have is the Best FM2 CPU w/o going into APU's, which you shouldn't upgrade to since you already have a gpu. So there is absolutly no upgradability in fm2 unless you want to spend money later on down the road for a new mobo and cpu. So just go AM3+ now instead of later.
