I'm not sure which subforum this should be in, please move if necessary.

I'm looking for a cheap air compressor so I don't have to keep buying cans of compressed air.  So far I've seen some decent air compressors for cars but they all draw power from the DC cigarette lighter, is there any sort of adapter to allow them to plug in to a UK socket?  If not, then does anyone know of a good cheap air compressor that draws power from a socket?

That's way more expensive than in the US, but see if you get the same model for cheaper. I have one and so do hundreds more on OCN.

I've seen those before and they're more expensive than I'd like, I know quite a lot of people have them and the various other models.  I don't mind about portability, I was originally looking at compressors like this but I don't know of a way to power them without using a car's cigarette lighter.

Oh then why not just get a 12v cig lighter to wall socket adapter like this?

There aren't any with UK plugs that have good reviews. Some of the car compressors are saying they only work with certain voltages and amps.

Ya, the cig lighter models are really under powered but enough for cleaning a PC. Nothing else works, get the datavac from Amazon and try it out to see if you like it (you will).

you can buy a really cheap air compressor from a hardware store not sure if you get them in the UK but I got a cheap one from lowes for under $100 that I use to clean my wifes computer and mine its a Bluehawk brand

Thanks guys, guess I'll fork out a little more to get a decent air compressor then.  Those Datavac ones look great but cost way too much in the UK for what they are.  I'm not sure how well something like this would work.

get that adapter then get a US to UK plug adapter too? If they even make those Idk lol but it seems like a logical thing to do

The ampere allowance on those adapters isn't high enough for any air compressors.  Might see how powerful one of these is.
